Academic Support Coordinator (Grades 6-12)

The Covenant School, an independent Christian Liberal Arts & Sciences school in Charlottesville, Virginia, is seeking a dedicated educator to serve as Academic Support Coordinator for grades 6-12 beginning in the 2026-27 school year. Serving more than 750 students from Pre-K through Grade 12, our school is a gospel-centered community of faith and learning committed to the formation of the whole person through a rich and humane education. Position Overview:

The Academic Support Coordinator leads and coordinates academic support for students in the Middle and Upper School, ensuring that support is consistent, well-coordinated, and attentive to students’ growth in independence and responsibility. The coordinator works closely with students, families, and faculty to identify academic needs, develop support plans, and implement accommodations that align with the school’s academic program and mission. This role includes both program leadership and direct student support. The coordinator supervises the Middle School Academic Support Coach, coordinates services, and maintains systems for tracking student progress and accommodations. The coordinator also works directly with a limited caseload of students, helping them develop effective learning habits, organizational skills, and growing confidence in their academic work.

We are seeking an educator who enjoys working with adolescents and who brings sound judgment, steadiness, and relational wisdom to this work. The coordinator approaches this work with clarity and care, helping students take increasing ownership of their learning while partnering closely with parents and faculty. The role requires clear communication, careful attention to detail, and the ability to navigate complex situations with discretion and professionalism. In keeping with the school’s mission, the Academic Support Coordinator integrates Christian faith naturally and thoughtfully into this work, supporting students in ways that uphold their dignity, encourage perseverance, and promote growth in both character and understanding.

Core Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership for academic support services for students in grades 6-12
- Collaborates closely with Middle School and Upper School Division Heads and grade-level coordinators to ensure support for students receiving academic support and their teachers
- Develop and implement individualized student learning plans and coordinate appropriate accommodations for those with diagnosed learning differences
- Work directly with a limited caseload of students in grades 9-12 to support the development of effective academic habits and skills
- Supervise and support the Middle School Academic Support Coach
- Coordinate the scheduling and delivery of academic support services across the Middle and Upper School
- Track student progress and maintain accurate, confidential records
- Interpret educational evaluations and collaborate with families regarding recommendations and next steps
- Partner with faculty to support effective instructional practices and appropriate classroom accommodations
- Serve as a liaison between students, parents, and faculty, communicating clearly and thoughtfully
- Assist with admissions processes as needed, particularly in evaluating prospective students who may require additional support

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
- Experience in academic support, educational intervention, or a related field
- Strong understanding of adolescent development and learning differences
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities with clarity and attention to detail
- Commitment to confidentiality and professional ethics
- Ability to integrate Christian faith authentically and thoughtfully in the context of this work
