Hickory Campus Librarian
The Covenant School, an independent Christian Liberal Arts and Sciences school for prekindergarten through grade 12 located in Charlottesville, Virginia, is seeking to fill a full-time position for a Librarian on the Hickory Campus.
Job Summary: The Hickory Campus Librarian coordinates activities and manages students in the busy Upper School and Middle School Library while maintaining a friendly supportive environment that is conducive to learning. The Librarian drafts, recommends to the school administration, and implements library policies and supports teachers though enthusiastic collaboration that aids classroom pedagogy by teaching research and literacy skills as requested by teachers. The Librarian promotes school-wide literacy through library programming, collection development, and relational reader’s advisory, and evaluates and develops a purposeful collection that includes print sources, online resources, and library materials to support the educational objectives of the Upper and Middle Schools. The Librarian has budgetary responsibility and manages the library technologies while keeping abreast of new library technologies. He or she will be expected to work as part of a team to teach and uphold the campus-wide ethical use of information, such as plagiarism instruction, copyright and MLA source citations using methods such as the use of Noodle Tools software, online tutorials, classroom instruction, and individual reference help

- ALA-accredited master’s degree in library or information sciences
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a secondary (and/or middle) school setting as a librarian-teacher preferred
- A student-centered attitude with the collaborative and interpersonal skills to advocate for the library
- A personal commitment to Christ and a desire to be a leader and servant in the Covenant Community
