Covenant Names Director of Admissions

The Covenant School is pleased to announce that Betsy Carter has been named Director of Admissions and Financial Aid. Betsy, who will begin her new role on June 11, brings nineteen years of teaching experience, the last eight of which have been spent serving as a kindergarten teacher at Covenant's Lower School.
"My dedication to The Covenant School stems not only from my years teaching kindergarten but also from watching my two children pass through the halls as Lower School and now Middle and Upper School students," says Betsy. "I have seen the development of a Covenant student through many lenses, none more closely than what takes place in my own home. I am excited to share this unique perspective with those considering a Covenant education as we grow the school in alignment with its mission."

Betsy assumes her role from Donna Harris, who has served as Director of Admissions and Financial Aid for 31 years. "It has been a privilege to witness the amazing ways God has blessed The Covenant School since its inception," says Donna. "I have no doubt that Betsy will enthusiastically step into her new role with ease, and I cannot imagine a more capable and gracious person to work with prospective parents and students." Donna will continue to serve the school in a part-time capacity next year as the International Student Coordinator.

Betsy holds a BS in Biology and an MT in Elementary Education from The University of Richmond. Recently, she was named the 2017-18 Golden Apple Recipient, a distinguished teaching award in Albemarle County. For four years, she has served as the Responsive Classroom Professional Development Leader at the Lower School. Betsy and her husband, Christian, have two children, Susannah '21 and Graham '23.
