First Day of School Tradition Continues in Kindergarten

Lower School students began the school year with great excitement. The energy in the building was tangible as students began classes with the first “morning meeting” and began to organize folders and binders and color code schedules and assignments.
Dr. Gaffney, Mrs. Blount, and Mrs. McFarland visited each class, greeted all the students and made a special recognition of the new students at Covenant. Each new student received a new pencil and a handshake from the head of school!

Among the most exciting activities of the first day was the annual tradition of the Gingerbread Man hunt with the kindergarteners. Kindergarten students listened very carefully to the story of the Gingerbread Man, read by Mrs. Meaney, and as they finished they suddenly heard a knock on the classroom door. The Gingerbread Man had left a note right outside the door and the eager students began a hunt around the school building to find this elusive Gingerbread Man. After investigating and interviewing many teachers and staff, all the kindergarten students found the Gingerbread Man in the multipurpose Room. Each student had a Gingerbread cookie, icing and buttons to decorate their own Gingerbread Men. This annual tradition was and is surely a hit with the Kindergarten students!

Overall, the first day was filled with all the joy, anticipation and excitement that the new school year has to offer!
