Avery Paladino '24 Takes Part in National #ShareYourColors Giving Campaign

Avery Paladino's longtime work with The Crayon Initiative is reaching new heights. Last weekend, she traveled to New York City for a national #ShareYourColors Giving Campaign.
Many of The Crayon Initiative's corporate partners came together to sort, melt, and mold crayons into new ones benefitting Child Life and Art Therapy programs in children’s hospitals across the country. Guest speakers, including Avery, shared stories of how The Crayon Initiative has made a difference in their lives and communities.

Avery began her work with The Crayon Initiative after her brother was diagnosed with brain cancer. She spent countless hours in hospitals during his treatment and found coloring to be therapeutic. The Covenant School partnered with Avery and The Crayon Initiative last year, donating over 200 lbs of crayons to be recycled and given to the University of Virginia Children's Hospital. Since then, Avery has spread the crayon collection to over 40 area schools as well as a summer campaign at AC Moore. A recent news segment about her story can be found here
