Emerson Helmbrecht '18 Wins Regional Shakespeare Competition, Advances to New York City

On Saturday, February 10, Covenant senior Emerson Helmbrecht took first place at the English Speaking Union Charlottesville Branch Shakespeare Competition, held at Blackfriars Playhouse in Staunton.
 
 
Presenting a monologue from King Lear followed by Sonnet 57, Emerson gave two excellent and memorable performances. He will now move on to the ESU National Shakespeare Competition in New York City in April.
