Covenant Names New Varsity Football Head Coach

The Covenant School Athletic Department would like to congratulate and welcome Chad Ciesil as our new Varsity Football head coach.
In the suburbs of Chicago, Chad played high school football where he was a team captain, earned a number of honors, and set the school’s single-season passing record. From there he went on to be a quarterback at Purdue University. Chad says that "Experience as a quarterback with some great coaches, preparing every week, and watching an incredible amount of film is like getting a Ph.D. in football."

In 2011, Chad and his family moved to Charlottesville (specifically Crozet). He’s blessed to be joined in life by his wife (Blair), son (Henry - Covenant ‘28), daughter (Molly - Covenant ‘30), and their new, very energetic German Shorthaired Pointer puppy (Cricket).

Most recently, Coach Ciesil served as an assistant coach and offensive coordinator for our fall 2021 Eagles football season.

Coach Ciesil is looking forward to his new position at Covenant. “I absolutely love the game of football. It has blessed me with many of my closest lifelong friendships. I believe wholeheartedly in the opportunities football provides to develop young men physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Our Christian Faith with Love, Accountability, and Courage will be the pillars of this program. We have some wonderfully talented student-athletes and I’m excited to help them realize their potential and achieve their goals as they develop into strong young men and honorable citizens of our community. We will work hard and it won’t be easy… but then again nothing worth having in life usually is easy.
