Last week, several of our middle school girls participated in the 9th Annual Girls Excelling at Math (GEM) competition, which was held remotely this year for students in the Charlottesville-Albemarle area.
The tests and challenges were difficult, and we are so proud of all of our girls who competed. We are especially pleased to announce that our Grade 7 and 8 team of Ellery Blurton, Elise Klintworth, and Kinsley Verbrugge won first place in the Team Hands-On Engineering Challenge and first place in the Team Paper and Pencil event. This is the third year in a row, and the second year in a row, respectively, that Covenant has won these events! In addition, Ellery and Kinsley tied for second place in the Individual Event. The Hands-on Challenge required the girls to build the highest tower possible to support 6 eggs using household recyclable materials -- check out the pictures with some of their amazing creations!
Located in Charlottesville, VA, The Covenant School is a non-denominational, private, Christian day school for Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12.
