A Glimpse Into Distance Learning - Hickory Campus

Our dedicated teachers on the Hickory Campuscontinue to adapt and provide vibrant teaching and learning through our distance learning program.

This week, 9th Grade teacher, Mr. Thomas Fickley, invited a former colleague, who is fluent in Russian, to join his Modern Literature Class as a guest speaker.  Mr. Fickley used a taped recording of his interview with this expert to provide historical context, including Joseph Stalin and the USSR, period photographs, and Russian propaganda posters from the 1920s and 1930s to bring alive the time period in George Orwell’s Animal Farm

Covenant’s Academic Resource Center has been blessed with the support of the administration to dedicate personnel and resources to ensure that every Middle and Upper School student has a dedicated student support advisor.  These advisors reach out to each student individually each week to check in on them both academically and personally.  Whether it is sharing pictures of cool projects they are working on, chatting about new hobbies developed during quarantine, offering to help plan and prepare for the week's assignments, or supporting them through the personal struggles of massive change in life, the advisors are a human touchpoint that is not associated with a course or a grade on a report card.  The advisors are praying for the students' specific prayer requests and are offering encouragement.
