Kindergarten Students Explore The 5 Senses at Local Businesses

This week was focused on using the five senses for Covenant Kindergarten students.
Half of the Kindergarteners took a walk down to Great Harvest Bread Co. on Monday to learn about baking bread and use those five senses. Each student brought $1.00 to “buy” some bread, and Great Harvest decided to donate those dollars to No Kid Hungry. They also gave each family 1/2 a loaf of bread. The other half of the students went to The Hive, the arts and crafts bar in Charlottesville. The Hive is owned by Kim Anderson, the wife of the Head of Upper School, Mr. Colin Anderson. Kindergarten teachers remarked how glad they were to be able to support a Covenant family’s business. Students were able to get their hands dirty making their own slime! The 2 halves of the Kindergarten switched places on Tuesday and these two trips proved to be a great lesson for using the five senses! We are so grateful for our partnerships with community businesses and organizations, and the way they give back to our students.
