Girls Varsity Soccer Repeats Run to State Semifinal

When Coach Bryan Verbrugge took the helm as the Covenant Varsity Girls Soccer coach in Spring 2017, he became part of a program that had had several years of losing records and was struggling to find its stride.
That year, the team doubled their wins and showed some of the grit and tenacity that the team had been known for in previous years. In 2018, the team won 11 games and made it to the State Semifinals for the first time since 2009.

This year the Lady Eagles had a similarly successful season, going 14-3-2 and winning their first Blue Ridge Conference championship ever. Additionally, they repeated their journey to the State Semifinals before falling to Nansemond-Suffolk Academy in a hard-fought 1-4 loss.

Congratulations to the following players for being named to the VISAA All-State Teams:

First Team
Stella Maton - Soph.
Chloe Mitchell -Sen.

Second Team
Claire McCartney - Jun.
Teagan Murrie - Soph.

With only two senior captains graduating, Anna Jane Johnson and Chloe Mitchell, we look forward to what the future has in store for these talented student-athletes!
