Head of Upper School

The Covenant School, an independent Christian Liberal Arts and Sciences and college preparatory school for grades Pre-K-12 located in Charlottesville, VA is looking for a full-time Head of Upper School to begin July 2019. The Upper School is located at our Hickory Campus and encompasses grades 9-12. This position reports to the Head of School.
 
The Head of Upper School is responsible for leading the Upper School (grades 9-12), its faculty members, students, and their parents in the day-to-day operations and special events. The primary focus is on the implementation of the Christian Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) vision throughout the Upper School curricula, practices, and activities under the leadership of the Academic Dean. In addition the Head of Upper School will assist the Head of School in implementing the Strategic Plan. The Head of Upper School also manages the Upper School team including the Athletic Director, Arts Director, Director of Academic Resources, Department Chairs, Hickory Campus Librarian, Hickory Campus Receptionist, Upper School Faculty, and the Assistant to the Head of Upper School. The ideal Head of Upper School is someone who:
  • Has a passion and knowledge of the CLAS philosophy
    • Has 3-5 years of experience in school administration or relevant equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Holds a Bachelor’s Degree
    • Agrees with The Covenant School’s mission, vision, and values
