Students Display Skill & Hard Work at Annual Science Fair
Over 140 students competed at Covenant’s Annual Middle School Science Fair on Wednesday, November 20. Projects included in-depth research of birds, displaying the scientific method, and showing the engineering design process.
There were also several displays in the hallways of the Hickory Campus including Honey Bee talks, slime making, lego building, Virginia wildlife, and drone demonstrations. Many families came to enjoy the event. The Science Department was pleased to announce the winners:
In the 6th Grade category of Bird Expert Projects
Third place: Lily Lischke - Tufted Titmouse
Second place: William Horner - Mallard
First Place: Henry Waldruff- Red-tailed Hawk
In 7th Grade employing the Scientific Method
Third place: Leah Klein - Can chickens recognize shapes?
Second Place: Katie Higgins- Eating away at food packaging waste
First Place: Kyle Rajapakse- Synergistic effect of mosquito repellants
And in 8th Grade using the Engineering Design Method
Third place: Max Horner - Fresh Air
Second: Timothy Herlihy - The Simple Cutter
First place: Maddie Gardiner - The Transformer
