Athletes Go Above & Beyond in October

Student athletes have competed at top level this month and many have been recognized by the surrounding community. Here are some October highlights:
  1. Giulio DeGiorgis was named male soccer player of the week for Virginia by Max Preps. Read our new article here.
  2. Jonas Sanker made the USA Today top ten plays of the week in football. Read more about Jonas in our news article here.
  3. Both Nic & Jonas Sanker appeared NBC29 for the leadership on the Football Team.
  4. The Football team is still undefeated!
  5. The Lady Eagles Volleyball team made the BRC Playoffs for the first time in the last 5 years.
  6. Covenant Volleyball All-Conference Team recipients were: BRC All-Conference 1st team: Joey McGregor and BRC All-Conference 2nd team: Maggie O'Connor
  7. The Varsity Boys Soccer team won the VIC conference championship this weekend.
  8. Several soccer players made all-conference 1st and 2nd Team: VIC All-Conference 1st Team for Soccer: Josiah McCaskill, Michael Seelman, Soren Scott, Giulio DiGiorgis; VIC All-Conference 2nd Team for Soccer: TJ Tyler
  9. Josiah McCaskill was named VIC Soccer Player of the Year!
  10. The Field Hockey team battled through sickness and injury and still won the BRC conference championship this weekend!
  11. Field Hockey senior, Claire McCartney, was named CBS19 student-athlete of the week in the 4th week of October.
  12. Some Field Hockey players were named BRC All-Conference PLayers for 1st Team: Teagen Murrie, Claire McCartney, Ashley Ballard, Erin Flynn, Abigail Shim
  13. And, Abi Shim was named BRC Field Hockey Player of the Year!
  14. The Girls Tennis All-Conference Team recipient was for Emme Dillard for BRC All-Conference 2nd team.
In addition, Head Soccer Coach, Bryan Verbrugge, was named VIC coach of the year. 
Athletic Director, Jason Bennett, commented on the outstanding achievements of Covenant athletes in all areas of their lives. "The young women and men have worked hard all season long to keep up with academics, activities, sports, and family."
