Student Spotlight: Nathan Klintworth

Student Prevails in Two Competitions and Gets Ready to Compete at the State Level
Covenant is pleased to announce the winner of the Covenant National Geographic Bee, Nathan Klintworth. He is in Grade 8 at the Hickory Campus, and said this win was unexpected. “I knew it wasn’t completely out of my reach, but I didn’t think winning was likely,” he said. He now has the opportunity to compete in the State National Geographic Bee with the chance to become a national finalist, win college scholarships, and win a trip to The Galapagos Islands!

In addition to his Geography Bee win, Nathan also placed second overall as an individual competitor at the Junior Albemarle Math Competition at the end of January and placed first as an individual overall competitor at the Regional MathCounts competition on Saturday, February 9. He is most pleased with his Math awards and said he really likes Math. When asked how one should prepare for something like the Geography Bee or the Math competition, he simply said, “Pay attention in class!” Nathan will now represent the Central Virginia Region at the State competition in March.

Congratulations to Nathan as well as Owen Bradley (runner up in the Geography Bee), Lukas Sanker and Nina Olson (who tied for third), as well as all of the Bee contestants and Math competition participants at Covenant!
