Young to Old
by Elara Rodriguez

Starting young
Growing old
Sitting and thinking
Growing cold

Thinning skin
Collecting dust
Feeling bones
What feels like rust

On something soft
Sleeping away
It's not your bed
Day after day

Hearing noises
There is no air
Tasting dirt
Knowing you’re bare

Seeing darkness
Feeling the cold
Wishing for home
 Knowing you’re old

  Falling asleep again
  Will you wake
  It’s better not to know
  For your own sake
