One of the ways that the administration seeks to implement the mission of our school (challenging our students to follow the example of Christ and fostering the recognition of God’s dominion over all creation) is through a weekly time of meeting together as a community in a Chapel service.
Lower School
Every Wednesday, Lower School students attend chapel. Students are actively involved in chapel, helping to lead music, reading Scripture, and leading the Lord’s Prayer. Parents are more than welcome to attend all chapels. Carol Sing, the Kindergarten performances of “B is for Bethlehem,” “We Love America,” and “Fruits of the Spirit” are highlights during the year. In addition, fine arts performances by fifth and sixth graders include band, handbells, and the chorus “Celebrate!”.
Upper School
Every Tuesday, Upper School students gather as a school body in Chapel to worship God. This corporate worship time includes a student-led music team, various readings from Scripture and historic Christian creeds, personal testimonies, and a message from the Chaplain, a teacher, or member of the community. Our theme for 2010-2011 comes from the New Testament book of Colossians: “Christ in you, the Hope of Glory.” All of our messages will seek to unpack this rich phrase and the implications of it for our communal life together. The Middle School (Grades 7-8) meet separately from the High School (Grades 9-12).
