Middle School

Middle schoolers are not simply older elementary school students or younger high school students. Rather, they are young men and women who, in their transition to the Upper School, are discovering that freedom and responsibility go hand-in-hand. In middle school, students are asked what kind of person they intend to become: What will motivate their decisions and choices? How will they use their energy and resources? How will they develop the habits of their hearts and why?

Covenant’s middle school students have many opportunities to interact with one another, build relationships, and mature socially. Special programs like Big Sister-Little Sister, grade-level trips, an 8th grade dinner dance with parents, and Field Day foster a sense of community during these formative years. With strong academics at the core, students’ emerging gifts and leadership skills are channeled into such activities as the Science Fair, Spelling Bee, and the House system, while faculty simultaneously provide an appropriate level of support, encouragement, and advocacy.
