Summer Camps

Thank you for your interest in Covenant Camps!

The Covenant School offers sports and specialty camps for students from Rising K – Grade 12 for five weeks this summer. Below, you will find camps organized by week and time of day for your convenience.

Each Covenant camp is $175 unless otherwise noted. The Covenant School reserves the right to cancel an individual camp if minimum numbers are not met within two weeks of the camp date. Parents will be notified in writing and students will be offered an alternate camp offering OR a full refund if a camp is canceled.

Parents who wish to enroll their students in a morning and afternoon session have the option to allow their student to stay for the lunch hour for an additional $10 for the week. Students must pack their own lunch. Early drop off is also offered beginning at 8:00 a.m. for an additional $10 per week.

July 10 – 14

9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Youth Wrestling with Brian Lee | Rising Grades 1 – 8 | Upper School Wrestling Room |
Focusing on the fundamentals this camp is geared towards both new & experienced wrestlers.

Book Making with Dr. Gaffney | Rising Grades 1 – 4 | Lower School 
Young authors will enjoy a week of growing as writers, learning how to make a variety of books including pop-up books, graphic novels, wordless picture books, fiction and nonfiction stories. Students will learn how to make their own books. We will explore the classics and other favorites, as we learn from them and use their ideas in our own books. This will be a busy week of writing, illustrating, designing and making books. Our final day will conclude with an author celebration. This session is designed for students entering first grade through fourth grade.

Books & Cooks with Andrea Blount | Rising Grades 1 – 3 | Lower School | Supply Fee $10
This camp will be filled with good books and yummy treats! Together we will read classic children’s books and then get cooking! Our recipes will be based on themes from the books we read. We will enjoy a different book and cooking activity each day.

Calling all Problem Solvers with Susy Willetts | Rising Grades 3 – 7 | Lower School 
A morning of fun, hands-on, challenging math and engineering activities! Students will have the opportunity to expand their problem-solving tool boxes and enhance mental math strategies. Campers will experience mathematics through games and real-world contexts.

Fabric Design & Sewing with Kim Anderson and Kimberly Ramberg | Rising Grades 2 – 8 | Lower School 
We will learn about the different types fabrics used in home-decor while learning to create our own designs. We will talk about why we use certain fabrics for upholstery, curtains and pillows. We will also learn techniques in fabric stenciling/painting on fabric and end the week learning to sew a pillow out of the fabric created by each participant. Some sewing experience recommended but not necessary.

Boys Development Soccer with Carol Bampoe | Rising Grades 1 -3 | Lower School 
The camp will serve to develop the fundamentals and improve players as well. We will work on drills that helps one become acquainted with the game both on and off the field. We will work on how to better understand the game of soccer (both from a player’s and coach’s perspective) and work on making permanent some habits that will improve your game.

1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Junior Music Theatre with Cammie Dusman | Rising Grades 3 – 7 | Lower School Music Room
Do you love drama and music? Calling all actors for a week of stage exploration including drama games, character work, stage blocking, singing, and dancing. The last day of camp will conclude with a revue show performing some favorite musical numbers. Come light up the stage with creativity and teamwork.

Math in the Garden with Kathy Bleam | Rising Grades 2 – 4 | Lower School Music Room
Join Mrs. Bleam to learn how math and art are found in God’s creation! During the week, we will explore Fibonacci numbers in nature, symmetry in plants, geometric shapes all around us, and other ways God uses math in His design of Creation. Students will sketch every day, noticing patterns and interesting designs, honing their skills of close observation. Students will make gel prints from items found in our very own gardens. We will even sample some tasty geometric shapes made from fruits and vegetables!

July 31 – August 3

Covenant Soccer Camp in Scottsville at Dorrier Park | 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. | $100 | Rising Grades 1 – 6 
For the first time in 15 years, Covenant Soccer Camp returns to Scottsville!
Coach Verbrugge and Coach Carol, along with various player and soccer alumni, will lead a fun and developmentally appropriate camp for soccer players in Scottsville.  The camp will help develop individual footskills and tactical awareness of the beautiful game while playing competitive and fun soccer games.

August 15 – 18

8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

College Camp with Mary Layman | Class of 2018 | Upper School Computer Lab | $80 
Get an early start on the college application process for the fall. Topics to be covered include review and prep of the Common Application, good essays, activities sheet, resumes, interview skills, and more!
