Lower School

Music is a natural part of the curriculum in Kindergarten through Grade 6, and students learn the fundamentals and history of music in music class and chorus. Students in Grades 1–6 have music twice a week, while students in Grades 5 and 6 have music one semester and art the other semester. Additionally, students in Grades 5 and 6 are required to select a performing art – Beginning Band, Concert Band, Handbells, or Celebrate (choir). The goal of the music program is to assist students in discovering their personal talents and nurturing that talent in and out of school. Students at the Lower School become comfortable expressing themselves to an audience through many annual opportunities, whether performing in a class production, concert, or musical for fifth and sixth graders.

Upper School

During their time at the Upper School, many students exceed their arts requirement by enrolling in several year-long electives. A wide array of electives includes Concert Band, Jazz and Pep Band, Guitar, and Middle and High School Theater classes. Upper School students also have the opportunity to participate in Covenant Singers, a vocal ensemble that performs throughout the community.

Extra-curricular opportunities are also popular with Upper School students. Each year a musical production is presented to the community. In addition, some Covenant students are chosen at the annual Rising Star Banquet to receive awards in recognition of their talent and commitment to music.
