Art instruction begins in Kindergarten and continues through Grade 8.  Students at The Covenant School explore art in many ways through a structured sequence of art courses, taught by an experienced art teacher in a fully-equipped studio.  The creative process is emphasized rather than the finished product.  Through the fine arts curriculum, each student discovers and develops their unique talents.

Students gain experience in a variety of media, and learn to create pottery (each campus has a kiln), three-dimensional sculptures, water colors, pastels, papier mache, and more.  The fundamentals of perspective, proportion, and color mixing are introduced, and mimicked through the study of famous works of art.  Art history gives students a broad view of the impact of art on our culture and throughout the world.

Many students at the upper school eagerly exceed the fine arts requirement for graduation.  Students may choose an elective in 3-Dimensional Art and Design, Art I, II, III, IV and AP Studio Art.
