All Fall

  • College admission officers will hold group meetings throughout the fall for interested seniors.  The schedule will be posted on the bulletin board and announced daily. Sign up through Family Connection to attend the visits of particular interest to you.

September

  • Polish your application essays – share them with your English teachers and your college advisor.
  • Notify your recommendation-writing teachers of your earliest application deadline, making sure they will complete your letter and submit it to us 10 days in advance.  If your college applications have a Teacher Evaluation Form, give it to these teachers well in advance so they may complete it and submit it to us well before your deadline.
  • Begin to complete your applications. Because you will have returned to school in the fall with a completed Common Application and completed essays, completing the applications for other colleges won’t be an overwhelming task.
  • Concurrent with your completing your own applications, come to the College Advising Office, sign in, and fill in the Transcript Release Form for each college whose application you are currently working on. Bring in the High School Report Form, the Teacher Evaluation Forms, and the Mid-year Report Form at the same time. Do not delay this step while you are working on your application. Remember to meet our deadlines when submitting your requests for us to complete the school’s portion of your applications. Help us to meet your college deadlines.

All Fall

  • When you have completed your applications, contact each college or university to see if it offers alumni interviews.  If so, avail yourself of the chance to make a good impression on local representatives of those colleges.

Prior to November

  • Strive to mail any early application no later than a week before the deadline.

December

  • Report all early application decisions to your college advisor so we can discuss the next step. Provide us with a copy of each college’s decision letter.

January / February / March

  • Send us an Activities Update e-mail to keep us updated on any activities and successes you have experienced since the applications were sent. Provide us with a copy of each college’s decision letter.

April / May

  • Regular Admission decisions. As you hear from colleges, continue to provide us with a copy of each college’s decision letter.
  • Wait List. Discuss your options with your college advisor. Return any Wait List cards immediately to the college(s) in which you remain interested.
  • Having Decided. Having decided where you want to attend college, you should write thank-you notes to the teachers who wrote for you and to anyone else who helped you with the process.
  • May 1st. Make sure you accept your first choice offer, in writing, and mail it well before the universal response date of May 1st.
  • Senior Survey. Submit a completed Senior Survey to your college advisor no later than the end of the first week of May. This is an important summary document and must be accurate in every detail.  Click here to download a Senior Survey.
