Four Covenant administrators are attending and speaking at the Society of Classical Learning’s National Conference in Dallas, Texas this week. Dr. Mo Gaffney, Head of Lower School, and Susy Willetts, Lower School Math Coordinator, are leading a session called “Habits of Mind and Singapore Math.” Earlier this year, The Covenant School hosted internationally-renowned instructor Dr. Yeap Ban Har for a statewide professional development day on Singapore Math.
Head of Upper School Leslie Moeller led an SCL pre-conference session this week called “The Dynamic and Disciplined Board.” Leslie is the former chairman of the Society for Classical Learning and was also the founding editor of SCL Journal. At the Geneva School of Boerne, Texas, Leslie helped lead the school in multiple roles, including Chairman of the Board.
Headmaster George Sanker was also a keynote speaker at an Urban Education Summit where attendees discussed models and approaches, family engagement, and community partnerships in order to help find solutions to problems in inner-city education. George spent his middle school years in urban D.C. schools and has a unique perspective on the topic.
